Chapter Twenty Four: The Badlands Bandit.
The Stone Guardian loomed over the demon hunters with Coconuts standed behind it. Zexal took out his gun and started firing at it just to watch his bullets bounce off. Maxus tossed some black flames at it. However when the smoke cleared, the Stone Guardian was unscathed. "Kikikiki!" cheered Coconuts, "Nothing you do will damage it! Not even Sonic could stop the Stone Guardian!" The robot suddenly jumped towards Maxus and tried to slam it's fists onto him. Maxus dodged the strike as Zexal tried to slash the machine. The robot's body didn't even scratch as his blade crossed. The robot smacked Zexal away like a bug before making another jump attack at Maxus. Maxus dove out of the way as the robot smashed into the ground, then suddenly tumble down a sinkhole. "Kikik...Ehh?" cried Coconuts, who rushed over to the hole. "Hmph!" it snapped, "Looks like I'll deal with you myself!" Maxus got to his feet and was about to draw his sword when the ground shook abit. Suddenly, a plume of dirt and dust burst upwards from under Coconuts's feet. Maxus could make out a fist hitting Coconuts with an uppercut and when the dust cloud setteled down, he saw a lean Coyotie standing over the robot monkey. The coyotie grabed Coconuts by the tail and started to swing the robot around his head like a pair of bolas and tossed Coconuts far over the horrison. "KIKikiki!" cried Coconuts as the robot flew into the distance. Maxus notice that the coyotie's feet looked robotic as the coyotie turned towards him. "Thank you for giving me and my friend a hand." said Maxus as Zexal got himself back up. "Get lost!" snapped the Coyotie harshly, "This is my turf and I don't need no tresspassers!" Maxus and Zexal were abit surprise by the coyotie's responce and Zexal said "I'm sorry if we are intruding but we.." "SHUT UP!" snapped the coyotie, "I told yea to get lost! Now shove off!" "Look!" shouted Maxus angrily, "We are trying to get to Brackwater Lake!" "Brackwater Lake?!" said the coyotie with suspision, "What's that dump to you?!" "We're.." started Maxus when Zexal interupted. "We heard that there will be a match for a fighting tournament going on there. We were hoping to get a seat to watch it." "Don't sell me a rock and call it a mountain!" snapped the coyotie, "What is it that you're really tryin to pull!?" "Who are you fighting?" asked Maxus suddenly. "What makes you think that I'm in a tournament?!" snapped the coyotie in rage. "Sorry.." said Maxus taking a step back, "I thought that you might be the Badlands Bandit." "Not more of you useless bounty hunters!" cursed the coyotie, drawing a knife, "I'm giving you to five to make a tumbleweed and blow off!" Both Maxus and Zexal drew their guns and the coyotie snarled "1..2..3.." "We are only here for the tournament!" said Maxus harshly, "Nothing else!" "Is there a way around you turf to get to the lake?" asked Zexal with annoyence. The coyotie looked at them and put his knife away. "Yeah there is!" he snarled as he pointed to a cactus in the distance, "You see them cactis. That marks the edge of my turf! Follow it down for a few miles and you should come accross a village. Then you will know that your near that dump of a lake. Now....GET YOUR STINKING HIDES OFF MY TURF!!!" Maxus and Zexal quickly walked over to the cactus that the coyotie pointed out and saw one about a mile away. Maxus turned towards the coyotie who was watching them as they walked along the edge of his turf.
