Von Karas had humble start to his life. Often ignored by others, he'd try to design parts for robots. Though most wouldn't see the light of day, one group of robotic builders saw an application for one of his designs. Von Karas help them build a prototype of his design and soon he found himself in a state of praise. The team used his design, for what Von Karas called a Tandem Motion Gyro, and build Centaur Man to be a tour guide for an Archeology Museum. After that day, Von Karas started to make designs for his own robot. With little help, he made both Räuber, who became an aide, and Shogun Man who he'd plan to entered into a robotic fighting tournament. When Dr. Wily, under the guise of Mr. X, took the eight robots, which included Centaur Man, Von Karas put his battle ready robot away with some sadness. After Dr. Wily was imprissoned, Von Karas tried to make a newer version of Centaur Man, but redesigned it into Satyr Woman. After that he was approched by some shady characters who wanted a robot for whaling. Though he knew that it was an illegal activity, Von Karas built Harpoon Man, claiming he was for search and rescue only. By this time, Von Karas was lossing money and he thought the best way was to build a robot that could identify gemstones. Shortly after finishing the plans for what would be Jeweler Man, the plans were stolen. Angered, Von Karas sent both Räuber and Shogun Man to track down the thief. It should have been no surprise when the trail lead right to Dr. Wily. Dr. Wily had almost finished constructing his version of Jeweler Man when Von Karas stormed in on him. 

Dr. Wily was more then impressed with Von Karas's work, saying that it was far exceding his work as well as Dr. Light's work. Dr. Wily offered Von Karas a spot to be his assistant and gave him access to his robotic machine. Von Karas was stunned at the offer and though hard about it. He accepted the job and he and Dr. Wily worked together making newer robots for Dr. Wily's army. Von Karas started by completing Dr. Wily's robot Tremble Man, creating Platoon Man from a discarded prototype of a Commando Joe, Devi Man from Dr. Wily's notes, and Derby Man, who was concider too violent for Rollerderby as he was design to par-take in. Dr. Wily had even Give a major upgrade to Räuber before setting out on his plan to release the Roboenza. However, Von Karas was sick of being a second fiddle to Dr. Wily. He recalled Satyr Woman and Harpoon Man and got all his robot ready to revolt and take over Dr. Wily's Army.

Two months after the Roboenza outbrake, Von Karas seized his chance and took over Wily's army and turned it against him. Dr. Wily fled to Mega Man and Dr. Light for help, but Von Karas sent Räuber after him and ordered him to bring both Dr. Wily and Mega Man down. Unbenounced to Von Karas, Dr. Wily had put a Wily Chip  in his weapon arm, preventing Räuber from killing him. When Räuber returned with Roll as a hostage, Von Karas had him toss her into a cell. This was his army now. Now, no one would ignore him ever again.
